The contents of this book assumes that we are celestial, spiritual beings temporarily sojourning as terrestrial, physical beings. It assumes that during this incarnation we may bridge these two realities, these two aspects of ourselves, and thereby enliven our bodies and enlighten our immortal minds in such a manner as to become healthier, happier people who are a blessing to others and make this world a better place for us having sojourned here. It assumes that dreaming sleep and regular meditation are required practices for us to achieve this breakthrough. Just as we know that good hygiene, proper nourishment, and physical exercise are important for our bodies, so are mental and spiritual exercises and nourishment important to our souls. Within us is the life force and deeper levels of consciousness which need attention and expression. "So may an individual effect a healing through meditation, through attuning not just a side of the mind or a portion of the body but the WHOLE, to that at-oneness with the spiritual forces within, the gift of the life-force within EACH body. Each individual body must bring its own creative force in balance." -Edgar Cayce

The Fairy-Faith in Celtic Countries is a study by W. Y. Evans-Wentz, American anthropologist who studied Celtic mythology and folklore. He performed ethnographic fieldwork collecting fairy folklore in Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Cornwall, Brittany, and the Isle of Man, and in this book he published his degree thesis. His goal was to elucidate the phenomenon of the Celtic belief in fairies. Some of the theories he came across are that the fairies were a cloistered race of dwarfs, that they are a product of our imagination, or that they are incorporeal spirits.

Continuing the journey to close the Portal opened by the evil Witch Cadence Shadowsoul. A clean start: fresh faces, new teams - new challenges, but the "smoldering embers of evil" remain. The Roman Soldier, Petronius Arbiter said it best in AD 65: "We trained very hard - but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams, we were reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing, and what a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while actually producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization..." Except for the lasting influence of the portal - once closed, never closed. ..".Evil doesn't die. It never dies. It just takes on a new face, a new name. Just because we've been touched by it once, it doesn't mean we're immune to ever being hurt again. Lightning can strike twice..." Tess Gerritsen

Stories of the Prophets

This volume presents a detailed iconographic and stylistic study of a group of profusely illustrated manuscripts, from 1570's-80's. This group comprises 21 copies of three Persian texts, all entitled Stories of the Prophets. The lives and deeds of mostly biblical figures, considered by Muslims as prophets, are mentioned briefly in the Koran. They are then developed and enlarged upon in the writings of religious scholars, historians, sufi poets, and popular storytellers. The variation of literary details reflect the differences between Muslim religious trends and the debts of Islamic thinking and art, to pre-Islamic traditions and the syncretism of these various traditions with Islamic theology.

Aleister Crowley and Western Esotericism

This volume is the first comprehensive examination of one of the twentieth century's most distinctive iconoclasts. Aleister Crowley (1875-1947) was a study in contradictions. Born into a fundamentalist Christian family and educated at Cambridge, he was vilified as a traitor, drug addict, and debaucher, yet revered as perhaps the most influential thinker in contemporary esotericism. Moving beyond the influence of contemporary psychology and the modernist understanding of the occult, Crowley declared himself the revelator of a new age of individualism. Crowley's occult bricolage, Magick, was an eclectic combination of spiritual exercises drawn from Western European magical ceremonies and Indic sources for meditation and yoga. This journey of self-liberation culminated in harnessing sexual power as a magical discipline, a "sacrilization of the self" as practiced in Crowley's mixed masonic group, the Ordo Templi Orientis. The religion Crowley created, Thelema, legitimated his role as a charismatic revelator and herald of a new age of freedom. Aleister Crowley's lasting influence can be seen in the counter-culture movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s and in many forms of alternative spirituality and popular culture. The essays in this volume offer crucial insight into Crowley's foundational role in the study of Western esotericism, new religious movements, and sexuality.
