The use of mind-altering substances, such as mushrooms, has been seen in the history of humankind - whether it be as an aid in religious ceremonies to encounter "spiritual consciousness" or used recreationally. These substances, often referred to as drugs, are now established within our societies.Their usage has been critiqued by many, and such critique within the legal circles has led to their ban in many parts of the world, especially due to the results of scientific research that claims they are harmful to the human body and psyche. The use of these mushrooms is also frowned upon due to societal norms.Yet, it is actually scientific research which has led to the continuation of such a debate of "to use or not to use," as research has also shown how these 'drugs' positively impact the health of humans.Well, the mushrooms that are apart of such legal discussions are not the kind that helps to make superb tasting risotto or even those we would commonly have on our pizzas; nor the mushrooms which are toxic/poisonous and may lead to death. The mushrooms which are deemed most helpful, and harmful at the same time, are those of the psychedelic nature. These are known as "magic mushrooms." What makes them distinct from other mushrooms, is the substance "psilocybin," which produces the hallucinogenic effects experienced by its users. If you wish to partake in such an experience, how is it that you will know which mushroom is safe and will give you the desired results? You may even question how harmful or useful these drugs may be to you. This guide hopes to provide the answers to questions such as these and more. As a guide on magic mushrooms, it will present details about the history of their usage, provide specifics on the different kinds, and the best ones to consume. It will even further guide you on how to identify them, helping you to make a distinction between psilocybin mushrooms and those that are fatal. You will also be able to delve deeper into the various research which provides information on how magic mushrooms may be used to improve health - research related to cancer, mental disorders and other ailments. In addition, if your interest has been ever so piqued and you wish to cultivate these mushrooms for your own use, this guide will give you steps to help you on your way to grow these in your home. The objective information presented in this book will look at the varied positive and negative effects of these drugs. It is hoped that at the end of reading, you will have a better understanding of magic mushrooms, producing your own conclusive analysis about the surrounding the usage of these psychedelic fungi.

As the teenage ruler of his own country, Matt must cope with clones and cartels in this “electric blend of horrors and beauty” (Publishers Weekly), the riveting sequel to the modern classic House of the Scorpion, winner of the National Book Award, a Newbery Honor, and a Printz Honor. Matt has always been nothing but a clone—grown from a strip of old El Patron’s skin. Now, at age fourteen, he finds himself suddenly thrust into the position of ruling over his own country. The Land of Opium is the largest territory of the Dope Confederacy, which ranges on the map like an intestine from the ruins of San Diego to the ruins of Matamoros. But while Opium thrives, the rest of the world has been devastated by ecological disaster—and hidden in Opium is the cure. And that isn’t all that awaits within the depths of Opium. Matt is haunted by the ubiquitous army of eejits, zombielike workers harnessed to the old El Patron’s sinister system of drug growing—people stripped of the very qualities that once made them human. Matt wants to use his newfound power to help, to stop the suffering, but he can’t even find a way to smuggle his childhood love, Maria, across the border and into Opium. Instead, his every move hits a roadblock, some from the enemies that surround him…and some from a voice within himself. For who is Matt really, but the clone of an evil, murderous dictator? Is his true destiny already predetermined by his genes?

One of the key tenets of the Zen school of Mahayana Buddhism is that each one of us is already a Buddha—our enlightenment is inherent within us, and the practice of mindfulness is the tool to bring this truth to our full awareness. While it can bring much relief, this simple statement does not preclude the need for practice. We must strive to always be aware of our Buddha nature, rather than waiting until times of emotional upheaval when it is more difficult to practice. Thich Nhat Hanh uses the teachings of ninth century Zen Master Linji to elaborate on this simple truth and to give readers tools that can help awaken them to their true inner nature. Linji's recorded teachings are the most significant we have from the Ch'an school. One of the unique aspects of Linji's teaching, is the need to "wake ourselves up," not only by means of sitting meditation and listening to enlightened teachings, but also through unique techniques such as the shout, the stick, and the empty fist. Master Linji emphasized direct experience of our true nature over intellectual explorations of the teachings, and he encouraged his students to not "become lost in the knowledge or the concepts of the teaching." Powerful, direct, and uncompromising, Thich Nhat Hanh's reflections on the teachings of Master Linji are destined to become classic Buddhist writings.

With the unprecedented increase in the world’s population, the need for different foodprocessing techniques becomes extremely important. And with the increase in awareness of and demand for food quality, processed products with improved quality and better taste that are safe are also important aspects that need to be addressed. In this volume, experts examine the use of different technologies for food processing. They look at technology with ways to preserve nutrients, eliminate anti-nutrients and toxins, add vitamins and minerals, reduce waste, and increase productivity. Topics include, among others: • applications of ohmic heating • cold plasma in food processing • the role of biotechnology in the production of fermented foods and beverages • the use of modification of food proteins using gamma irradiation • edible coatings to restrain migration of moisture, oxygen, and carbon dioxide • natural colorants, as opposed to synthetic coloring, which may have toxic effects • hurdle technology in the food industry • the unrecognized potential of agro-industrial waste

Lose weight, boost your immunity, cleanse your blood and organs, and live longer and happier with this comprehensive five-part approach created by leading nutrition and raw food authority David Wolfe. In Longevity Now, Wolfe exposes the number-one cause of all degenerative illness and aging: calcification. Caused by an excess of calcium and the presence of nanobacteria, calcification can be found in some degree in virtually every adult and even some children. It leads to a plethora of illnesses and manifests as achy joints, hardened arteries, cellulite, cysts, kidney stones, gallstones, dental plaque, cataracts, and bone spurs, among many other health problems. By breaking down calcification and removing parasites, heavy metals, and other "unwanted guests" from your system, you can reverse the aging process and eliminate the prospect of degenerative disease from your future. Part 1 of the Longevity Now Program focuses on supplements to dissolve the buildup of calcium in your system, leading to freer movement, a clearer head, and a lighter step. Part 2 focuses on boosting your immunity, using a variety of supplements to make your body as resilient as possible. Part 3 focuses on rejuvenating each and every cell of your body with nutrient-packed supplements and superfoods. Part 4 focuses on using special electromagnetic grounding technologies to eliminate parasites and reconnect you with the rhythmic cycles of Earth's energy field. Part 5 focuses on deep-tissue bodywork and yoga, so that you can move blocked energy around and break up stagnation in typically unaccessed parts of the body. In addition to all this, Wolfe offers abundant additional information to help you more fully live the Longevity Now lifestyle, such as foods to avoid, healthful alternative sweeteners, delicious recipes, and more tips and tricks to keep you on the path of rejuvenation, radiant health, and full-throttle vitality. Chester County is well known for its sprawling scenic views, rich farmland, the Main Line, and mushrooms. Chester County, and specifically the village of Kennett Square, is known as the mushroom capital of the world because of the quantity and quality of mushrooms grown there. Mushrooms have been around for centuries, with the French beginning cultivation in the 1600s, and mushroom farming began in Chester County more than 120 years ago. The earliest farmers were Quakers, but over the years members of the Irish, Italian, and Hispanic communities have joined the ranks of Chester County mushroom farmers. The local mushroom farmers were responsible for the forming of the American Mushroom Institute more than a half century ago.
