Around midnight on June 17, 1979, Air New England Flight 248, en route from New York, crashed into the woods on Cape Cod. The pilot was killed, and the survivors struggled to escape the wreckage and wait for rescue. They survived with trauma both physical and emotional. Robert Sabbag was among them. This is his gripping account of the crash and his candid attempts, and those of the other survivors, to come to terms with its aftermath. Fast paced and mesmerizing, it is an unforgettable personal reflection on how we live with what we can never forget.

Susie Meyers was one of the most beautiful women you ever laid eyes on. She had long wavy blonde hair and a smile that would melt any man's heart. The story begins at around midnight on October 31, 1953. Susie and her friends downed too many beers at a Halloween party. Then decided to pile into her friend Tommy's car with his friends Jack and Karen, with their six packs of beer and drove down Hill Haven road. Just as they were all singing along with the radio, rain came pouring down and Tommy was having a hard time concentrating on the road because of the loud music and laughter coming from Susie and Karen in the back seat of Tommy's car. Jack was too busy handing out the beers to everyone to notice danger was on the way. Susie was the only one in the car not wearing her seat belt. The rain was really pouring down to where Tommy should have pulled off to the shoulder of the road and waited for the rain to stop before proceeding any further. Tommy just kept driving at a high rate of speed and drinking his beer when all of a sudden a driver on the other side of the road lost control of his vehicle causing Tommy's car to skid off the road and hit a tree head on. Unfortunately, Susie was the only passenger in the car that was not wearing a seat belt. Susie was ejected from the car and hit the tree head on decapitating her.

Perfect for fans of Nora Roberts and Karen Robards, Kathy Clark’s suspenseful, seductive Denver Heroes series kicks off as a dedicated cop and a beautiful actress get wrapped up in a world of danger and desire. Aside from the reporter riding along in the passenger seat of his cruiser, it’s a typical Saturday night on the job for Sam Morgan of the Denver Police Department. Then shots ring out, and a routine stop involving a pimp and a hooker spirals into senseless violence. Now Sam is lying in a hospital bed, haunted by fleeting memories of the stunning blonde who saved his life—and then just disappeared. Kate McKinney was hired to play a prostitute on a reality-TV show, not stand around as actual bullets start flying. Unable to shake the feeling that trouble is stalking her, Kate turns to the only man she can trust: the wounded cop whose blue eyes send chills through her body. He doesn’t believe she was just playing a role, but the predator hiding in the shadows is all too real—and, as Sam and Kate edge closer to the truth, so is the heat that ignites between them.

--All at once the bright new red and yellow flames ghastly illuminated the interior of the room. He saw the bed was ablaze; he bent down and aimed his flashlight underneath the bed. Horrified he saw a women's foot, her red nail polish reflected back in the flashlight's beam. -- This story takes place on New Years Eve 1948 during a blizzard in Brooklyn, New York at Hook and Ladder 112. It is the love of adventure, the intrigue of a fireman's life, the spirit of patriotism and heroism. These things make a timely tale special, but it is the passion of the story told through years of experience. I was only two years old when my father was accepted into the Fire Academy and became one of New York's City's Firemen. I still can remember how I felt waiting for him to come home from the firehouse, especially when he was late. On those days I would go to my bedroom window and watch for his green Chrysler. I checked every car looking for the shadow of the telltale pipe in the drivers mouth, anticipating the smoke smelling hug that awaited me as he walked through the door. It is this and many other beloved memories of my father "The Fireman" that are the heart and sole of this book. [email protected] "Your descriptions were perfect, I could actually feel the flames. It took me back and enabled me to visualize a bygone era." -Sal Moglen Hon. Battalion Chief Fire Department City of New York

Volume II of PEE WEE, Serial Killer or Homicidal Maniac, focuses on the courtroom drama of his several trials and appeals. Readers that enjoy trial strategy, courtroom personalities and the cloakroom maneuvering of the criminal courts will find a plethora of intriguing twists and turns. Seemingly foregone outcomes are reversed by national events or by the local politics of the farmlands of South Carolina that stubbornly resist change. It is replete with excerpts from actual trial transcriptions and transcripts of out of court statements given under oath. Despite his numerous murder convictions Gaskins manages time and again to avoid the death penalty in real life by virtue of unexpected events that could seemingly occur only in fiction. Told by an attorney intimately involved in the cases, there are pithy descriptions of battles fought in and out of the courtroom on the one hand and on the other of the camaraderie between adversaries. Both often lead to unpredictable outcomes. Pee Wee Gaskins describes the murders to which he will plead guilty in his own words. At the same time by either omission or outright lies, he avoids the inclusion of those murders for which he does not want to admit responsibility. Finally, in one of the most incredible crimes imaginable, the tiny killer foils the safeguard systems of a maximum security penitentiary to murder a fellow death row inmate with plastic explosives.

Sanna and her ravishing friend Gerti would rather speak of love than politics, but in 1930s Frankfurt, politics cannot be escaped--even in the lady's bathroom. Crossing town one evening to meet up with Gerti's Jewish lover, a blockade cuts off the girls' path--it is the Fürher in a motorcade procession, and the crowd goes mad striving to catch a glimpse of Hitler's raised "empty hand." Then the parade is over, and in the long hours after midnight Sanna and Gerti will face betrayal, death, and the heartbreaking reality of being young in an era devoid of innocence or romance. In 1937, German author Irmgard Keun had only recently fled Nazi Germany with her lover Joseph Roth when she wrote this slim, exquisite, and devastating book. It captures the unbearable tension, contradictions, and hysteria of pre-war Germany like no other novel. Yet even as it exposes human folly, the book exudes a hopeful humanism. It is full of humor and light, even as it describes the first moments of a nightmare. After Midnight is a masterpiece that deserves to be read and remembered anew.

It was almost midnight when Jess Reynolds was eyewitness to a brutal murder near the Folly Beach harbor; it was almost midnight when a beautiful blond disappears on a cruise ship never to be seen alive again. It was a little after midnight when two bodies washed up on shore believed to be those belonging to two of the missing drug dealers. Now Erin, Jess and Captain Logan Maxwell are thrown together as they try to find the missing girl and end the crime-ridden spree of a cruel murder before any more innocent bystanders are killed. Erin and Logan's growing passion for each other ignites the wrath of a ruthless killer and Erin's generaous nature leads her into deadly peril. Can this case be solved before another murder is committed and can true love survive when danger lurks from every corner?
