Excerpt from Fishery Bulletin, Vol. 69: January, 1971 Thermocline depth was invariably shallow in the inner pattern occupied by Alaminos (data not included in Table the greatest depth recorded was only 40 m, and the majority of observations were at depths shallower than 20 m. Along the six station lines covered in Table 3, thermocline depths were shallowest near the equator, and usually were deepest at the north ern (20-15° N) and southern (15-20° S) ends of the lines. The thermocline also deepened off shore; approximately three-fourths of the rec ords of thermocline depths of 50 m or greater were from the two outer lines, occupied by Argo. Excerpt from Fishery Bulletin, 1976, Vol. 74 We examined larval, juvenile, and adult nehu collected in Kaneohe Bay to obtain an estimate of age and growth of a wild population based on the assumption that the smallest observable growth layers in the sagittae represent daily growth in crements. We examined 213 specimens from 13 collections made during most seasons between spring 197 2 and summer 197 3 (no collections were made in the months November through January). The growth curves obtained from the individual collections are given in Figure 6. Because all individuals in a sample have been exposed to the vagaries of the environment during their ob served lifespan, a composite growth curve for all collections is presented in Figure 6f. Although some variation between samples is apparent, the composite scattergram serves as a first estimate of the growth pattern of nehu in Kaneohe Bay. Excerpt from Fishery Bulletin, 1980, Vol. 78 Table 4. - Correlation matrix between life-history parameters for salmons (family Salmonidae). For sources of data see Appen dix I. The number in parentheses represents the significance value for that particular coefficient since the number of data cases was different for each correlation. Excerpt from Fishery Bulletin, Vol. 79: January 1981 Activities in 27 of the major southern Californian nearshore fish species, with emphasis on trophic relationships, were studied between 1972 and 1975 at Santa Catalina Island. Because these fishes orient primarily by vision, they are strongly influenced by the underwater photic environment, which we define with representative spectra. We center on crepuscular and nocturnal events, but also describe daytime events for comparison. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Excerpt from Fishery Bulletin, 1992, Vol. 90: No. 1-4 Edwards and Kleiber (1989) have questioned the validity of estimating trends in abundance from sight ings data collected on commercial tuna vessels. We carry out a simple simulation study to assess their assertions, and compare the relative abundance esti mates calculated from tuna vessel data with those calculated from research vessel data for the years 1986 - 89, for which data from both sources are available. Excerpt from Fishery Bulletin, Vol. 75: January 1977 Summaries of survey data by species and area permit preliminary evaluation of the magnitude and direction of change in selected biomass components in recent years and of the degree of year-to-year variability that may be encountered. Accordingly, we examined trends for different species and strata sets and for data summed over all strata before attempting transformation or weighting procedures.
