DawnDusk Asymmetries in Planetary Plasma Environments Dawn-dusk asymmetries are ubiquitous features of the plasma environment of many of the planets in our solar system. They occur when a particular process or feature is more pronounced at one side of a planet than the other. For example, recent observations indicate that Earth's magnetopause is thicker at dawn than at dusk. Likewise, auroral breakups at Earth are more likely to occur in the pre-midnight than post-midnight sectors. Increasing availability of remotely sensed and in situ measurements of planetary ionospheres, magnetospheres and their interfaces to the solar wind have revealed significant and persistent dawn-dusk asymmetries. As yet there is no consensus regarding the source of many of these asymmetries, nor the physical mechanisms by which they are produced and maintained. Volume highlights include: A comprehensive and updated overview of current knowledge about dawn-dusk asymmetries in the plasma environments of planets in our solar system and the mechanisms behind them Valuable contributions from internationally recognized experts, covering both observations, simulations and theories discussing all important aspects of dawn-dusk asymmetries Space weather effects are caused by processes in space, mainly the magnetotail, and can be highly localized on ground. Knowing where the source, i.e., where dawn-dusk location is will allow for a better prediction of where the effects on ground will be most pronounced Covering both observational and theoretical aspects of dawn dusk asymmetries, Dawn-Dusk Asymmetries in Planetary Plasma Environments will be a valuable resource for academic researchers in space physics, planetary science, astrophysics, physics, geophysics and earth science.

Dawn to Dusk is a collection of Edo (or Benin) folk tales: an oral history of Edo culture and tradition. It tells the story of how the ancient Edo conceived of the world and how they attempted both to explain the origin of their human existence on earth and to interpret their environment. In 1485 an Edo king was establishing diplomatic and trading relationships with Portugal. In Joao Affonso d'Aveiro's estimation, the Benin kingdom compared favourably with his own in terms of 'civilisation'. Even further back, when the earliest travellers were first 'discovering' Africa, the Edo king and people were well known, feared and respected as far away as present-day Mali. In 1897, the fire that destroyed the city seemed also to have destroyed the language, traditions and culture of the Edo people. And so, today, the language is all but dead and the culture disowned. Iro Eweka recounts some of the ancient stories, myths and lore passed down through families and communities of the Edo kingdom throughout the ages. The second part of the book contains ancient Edo proverbs, both in the original language and in English, which point to the culture, traditions and customs of this ancient society.

This photography guide has a unique structure that leads the reader on an hour-by-hour, picture-by-picture journey from dawn to dusk, and then on into the night. Each chapter focuses on the benefits and challenges of shooting in the available light at a particular time of the day, highlighting suitable landscape types, styles of photography and processing techniques of that moment. There are regular "technique" panels to help readers hone their camera skills, and each chapter concludes with an awe-inspiring double-page image that demonstrates the results that are possible--accompanied by an extended caption and a personal anecdote from the photographer.

Low Latitude Aeronomical Processes contains the papers presented at the symposium on Low Latitude Aeronomical Processes, held in Bangalore, India in May and June 1979. The conference focuses on the discussion and exchange of scientific studies on low latitude aeronomy, of which India is one of the main practitioners. The presentations contained in the book cover areas of study in equatorial electrojet, electric field, and electric current; low latitude middle atmosphere; and low latitude ionosphere above 100 km. Trans-ionospheric propagation in the equatorial regions and stratospheric chemistry and sun-weather relationships for low latitude regions, as well as a discussion on incoherent and coherent scatter observations at low latitude, are encompassed as well. Atmospheric physicists and researchers will find this book an interesting read.
