There's far more to vintage soccer programs than optimistic manager's notes, unreliable team sheets, and grudging opposition "pen pictures." Before the era of the standardized corporate brochure, every club's program had a different, unique personality, and played its part in the precious ritual of going to the match. Last weekend's action shots provided a foretaste of the excitement; the A-Z score sheet provided a live lookout on the rest of the League, while "At Home With. . ." provided a peephole into a star's domestic life. Remember the allure of the Souvenir Shop ads? Football League Review center spreads? "Girl of the Match?" From the "ground picture" cover era through the "groovy" and "color action" phases to the dawn of clipart, programs from our nostalgic 1960s-1990s Golden Age amount to a (slightly crumpled) pocket history of graphic design. Packed with pictures and memories, Fully Programmed offers an irresistible window back into more innocent times.

The revised second edition of this respected text provides a state-of-the-art overview of the main topics relating to solid state drives (SSDs), covering NAND flash memories, memory controllers (including booth hardware and software), I/O interfaces (PCIe/SAS/SATA), reliability, error correction codes (BCH and LDPC), encryption, flash signal processing and hybrid storage. Updated throughout to include all recent work in the field, significant changes for the new edition include: A new chapter on flash memory errors and data recovery procedures in SSDs for reliability and lifetime improvement Updated coverage of SSD Architecture and PCI Express Interfaces moving from PCIe Gen3 to PCIe Gen4 and including a section on NVMe over fabric (NVMf) An additional section on 3D flash memories An update on standard reliability procedures for SSDs Expanded coverage of BCH for SSDs, with a specific section on detection A new section on non-binary Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes, the most recent advancement in the field A description of randomization in the protection of SSD data against attacks, particularly relevant to 3D architectures The SSD market is booming, with many industries placing a huge effort in this space, spending billions of dollars in R&D and product development. Moreover, flash manufacturers are now moving to 3D architectures, thus enabling an even higher level of storage capacity. This book takes the reader through the fundamentals and brings them up to speed with the most recent developments in the field, and is suitable for advanced students, researchers and engineers alike.

In mechanical engineering the trend towards increasingly flexible solutions is leading to changes in control systems. The growth of mechatronic systems and modular functional units is placing high demands on software and its design. In the coming years, automation technology will experience the same transition that has already taken place in the PC world: a transition to more advanced and reproducible software design, simpler modification, and increasing modularity. This can only be achieved through object-oriented programming. This book is aimed at those who want to familiarize themselves with this development in automation technology. Whether mechanical engineers, technicians, or experienced automation engineers, it can help readers to understand and use object-oriented programming. From version 4.5, SIMOTION provides the option to use OOP in accordance with IEC 61131-3 ED3, the standard for programmable logic controllers. The book supports this way of thinking and programming and offers examples of various object-oriented techniques and their mechanisms. The examples are designed as a step-by-step process that produces a finished, ready-to-use machine module. Contents: Developments in the field of control engineering - General principles of object-oriented programming - Function blocks, methods, classes, interfaces - Modular software concepts - Object-oriented design, reusable and easy-to-maintain software, organizational and legal aspects, software tests - I/O references, namespaces, general references - Classes in SIMOTION, instantiation of classes and function blocks, compatible and efficient software - Introduction to SIMOTION and SIMOTION SCOUT.

Programmed Sheep is an adult comedy built on my observation that humans all behave like sheep. Therefore, we are treated as such by government, politicians, employers, and the police, who all control our lives. We are being programmed to think like they want us to think, taking away our free will, freedom of speech, and even our own identity. I think most of the problems of the world are a direct result of interference in our lives by people using propaganda and lies to control the way we do think, which in turn makes us unhappy “lost sheep.” And if we oppose them, they seem to just ignore us anyway and continue with their own agenda, regardless of what the people really want. So rather than following the flock as a mindless sheep, I wanted to break free and make readers aware of the world as I see it. The book starts when I was going through mental anguish and everything started to get me down. I was feeling low, depressed, and unappreciated as a worker, so I started a self-therapy exercise, and began to write down my thoughts. The question you should ask yourself is simple: Do you control your mind or does somebody else control it for you? In Programmed Sheep, M.A. Fricker in his comedy approach brings to the surface what he sees is really going on in the world, and helps stop you from just following the flock. He is working on the sequel, Paranoid Sheep.
