The purpose of tis study was to see how Jolly Phonics, a systematic synthetic phonics program, affect students' early literacy skills, specifically in the area of phonics. This study use a pre-test/ Posttest research approach and a was conducted in three inclusive kindergarten classrooms. The students participated on explicit direct instruction of Jolly Phonics for 8 weeks. Data collection consisted on an Essential Kindergarten Assessment pre- and posttest and DIBELS Nonsense Word Fluency pre- and posttest, along with weekly journal probes. The results of the study supported my hypothesis that explicit systematic phonics instruction would have a positive impact on students' early literacy skills, specifically in letter sound association.
