An ancient vampire, beautiful beyond words, a vulnerable young man drawn to her by a power beyond his understanding, two desperate parents searching across the world for the son they love -- these are the riveting, unexpected elements of Whitley Strieber's extraordinary new novel. Lilith, the ages-old mother of the dying race of vampires, has been forced to come out of her cave deep in the Egyptian desert in search of food -- human blood. But she knows nothing about the modern world. She can't drive a car, rent a room, turn on a TV. She struggles to New York, penniless, vulnerable, and starving, protected only by her beauty and her power to capture men with desire...especially certain very special men. The instant she sees young Ian Ward, she knows that he is part vampire himself. She knows that Ian, if he ever tastes human blood, will belong to her forever. And she needs him desperately, to help her survive and live in this harsh new world of jets and credit cards and guns. She sets out on a campaign of seduction -- as sensuous as it is terrifying -- to touch human blood to Ian's lips, which will then become for him a drug a thousand times more addictive than heroin. Ian's father, Paul Ward, part vampire turned expert and obsessive hunter of vampires, knows that if the blood transforms Ian, Paul will have to kill his own son. The titanic conflict between father and son and seductress, hunter and hunted and huntress, comes to its surprise conclusion in the secret chambers beneath the great pyramids, where the hidden truths of all human history are stored. From its beginning in the dark back alleys of Cairo to its totally unexpected ending, Lilith's Dream draws the reader down seductive new paths of discovery, into places where no novel has ever before. With Lilith's Dream Whitley Strieber has created a vampire so original and a story so new that he has virtually invented a new genre.

The women of Torah grew up at a time when gender roles were rigidly defined and girls were considered women at an early age. Still, the Torah hints that young biblical women faced challenges similar to those that teenagers encounter today: first loves, burgeoning identities, developing sexualities, and blossoming spirituality. Building on textual sources, Deborah Bodin Cohen has created a collection of midrashim about the teen years of 10 women in Genesis that will resonate with 21st-century readers. Lilith's Ark melds text, biblical commentaries, and historic details about the ancient world with the experiences of modern girls and women and the author's own imagination. A discussion guide for each story enriches the reading experience. This is a book that will speak across time to the anxieties and aspirations of today's growing girls.

The legend of Lilith is undoubtedly the most fantastic of all ancient rabbinic myths. According to lore, God created her from dust alongside Adam. However, Lilith was a failed mate. She was not animated by the breath of God like Adam. Rather she was preemptively animated by a Satanic mist which erupted from the ground. Lilith rebelled against Adam and became the infamous Serpent who deceived Eve and caused Adam to fall. Therefore, God established eternal enmity between the Serpent Lilith and Eve and between their seed. Lilith's seed would bruise the heel of Eve's promised seed, Messiah, but Eve's seed would revive to crush Lilith’s head. This book reveals 23 Biblical evidences that prompted ancient rabbis to conclude the various elements of Lilith's legend. It also explains how her legend is completely consistent with traditional Judaic / Christian teachings on the Bible's redemptive message. Her legend solves many ancient Biblical mysteries, such as why the Serpent bears seed like Eve.

I believe that the stories we tell have written somewhere in the universe long ago, and every person who opens their heart and establishes a connection with the universe transfers these stories to people's hearts in their own unique way. For some, this means of transmission is notes, for some the words spoken on the stage, dance for some, and writing for others. Since the days when I connected with my own heart and discovered whatever is mine, my method is to write about myself and those born to my heart. This story I told you is a fiction about the woman inside us who we have not taken out of the darkness, courageously confronting the darkness, finding herself and leaving her rooted and settled fears and coming to the stage of her own life. This fiction which is fed by mythological characters tells us about one of Lilith’s and Samael’s daughters called Ophelia. In some beliefs, it is believed that her mother, Lilith has been created before Eve and when she wanted to equal rights with Adam, she was fired from the paradise. On that day, to this day, she had been excluded from every mythology, became hated and had been sentenced to darkness with Samael. Ophelia is facing with her darkness by an intrinsic call. She was born in darkness; she had no any idea about lights and she just could see world’s shimmer too far away. What was her own? She had to discover her own with courage. Ophelia goes on a journey with her heart, leaving behind everything and all her labels, which she does not know where she is going, by following the craving and quest in her heart with an inner call from the darkness, where all the fears imposed on her mother, the woman who demands to take place in the stage of life with her own light. The journey confronts Ophelia with her fears, her devils, what she gives up, dares and her injustices to herself, all the fearful lives she has turned down, covered, and hidden. And Ophelia continues to look into her heart, although her fears, despite her own demons. At the end, Ophelia meet with hidden things which into her deepest of heart and things what she was. And she comes out to her own life scene, taking care of herself, her soul, her heart, her abilities, all the values that make her that, and leaving all her fears, worries, judgments. Darkness is an area that we often fear, not dare to get into and stay away from area. Whereas we continue to look at all the fears which we don't want to see, we discover all our treasures those we cover in darkness. I believe that; the world which full of with happy people, when our abilities which are in darkness and things which belong to us, leaving our fears and give ourselves to chance to be self that define ourselves. This story, dedicated to all women who bravely stay in their own scene throughout history, who were excluded, harmed, killed, to Hypatia and to my own soul. The brightest, the most attractive pearls are in the deepest seas. As long as you dare look at your heart, to find it...

Lilith is the mythological seductress that has been repressed since Biblical times. She is the representative of the essentially motherless form of the feminine Self that arose as an embodiment of the neglected and rejected aspects of the Great Goddess. Written by a Jungian analyst, this material can help modern men and women come to terms with this aspect of the feminine within.

Myth is oral, collective, sacred, and timeless. Fantasy is a modern literary mode and a popular entertainment. Yet the two have always been inextricably intertwined. Stories about Stories examines fantasy as an arena in which different ways of understanding myth compete and new relationships with myth are worked out. The book offers a comprehensive history of the modern fantastic as well as an argument about its nature and importance. Specific chapters cover the origins of fantasy in the Romantic search for localized myths, fantasy versions of the Modernist turn toward the primitive, the post-Tolkienian exploration of world mythologies, post-colonial reactions to the exploitation of indigenous sacred narratives by Western writers, fantasies based in Christian belief alongside fundamentalist attempts to stamp out the form, and the emergence of ever-more sophisticated structures such as metafiction through which to explore mythic constructions of reality.
