If you have ever wondered what it would be like to travel the road that a drug addict has chosen, sit back and read about the road into living hell—and back. Marty Gruber abused drugs for 45 years, and he attempted suicide immediately before he found the door of escape from drug abuse, and the key to a meaningful life. With the aid of Providence Marty found long term meaning, and in the process he has been given the privilege of warning teens about the trap of drug abuse. Research performed in 2010 shows that 48.2 percent of America’s high school seniors have tried illicit drugs. In 2011 the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) reported that drug abuse cost the United States six hundred and nine billion dollars ($609,000,000,000 is not a typo). Most drug addicts die from their addiction because becoming drug free requires help, and many never find that help. Research shows that for each dollar invested in drug abuse prevention, a savings of up to ten dollars in rehabilitation treatment can be achieved. A teenager can’t see as far down the road as a seventy-five-year-old man who has already been down that road to just short of its logical end—death. In Marty’s case, this was attempted suicide. Marty has returned to warn others not to take the road leading to drug abuse.

At age 59, author STEVE ROGERS has played golf for 48 of those years. His love of the game inspired him to write this novel, told by a narrator who has Alzheimer's disease. Lost in Love Grass shows the author's lifetime love of the game and his keen observations of human behavior. Having previously written two children's books, he wanted to prove he could write a "big boy" book. Former football star with the Oakland Raiders and New England Patriots, Mark van Eeghen wrote, "What an absolutely fun read! The story unfolded beautifully and I'm thrilled Steve included me in the book. It's a good thing he is a far better writer than a golfer!" "I enjoyed each and every page of the book. It made me laugh out loud. The writing is reminiscent of Jack Kerouac." - Ginny Walsh, retired public school teacher, Worcester, Mass. "This is the ultimate 'golf guy' book. It is sarcastic, pessimistic, bawdy, self-deprecating and dark. There are lots of adjectives that fit into the description. How about earthy, gritty, rough with all the divots replaced." - Bob Black, visiting professor at Massachusetts Maritime

You think the teenagers of today have it good? That their struggles are merely First World pains? Or only kids from broken families go bad? Think again. Negative influences are lurking at every corner and money can buy anything. For everything else, there is the Internet. Want friends? Join an online cult. Want drugs? Click and DIY. Want to forge? Learn how with web videos. Want porn? Upload your own. When such disturbing influences combine with an oppressive pressure to fit in, some teens stick to the straight path society has laid out, while others stray into dark alleys, only to be trapped, committing crimes or developing psychological problems that ruin them, leaving their futures in shambles. Through interviews, experience, and research, the authors expose stories of seemingly normal teens from average Singaporean families. Hear their voices and understand their mindsets. After all, beneath the rosy-cheeked exterior of that sweet child across the road lurks a possible future social psychopath Author Dr Kaiwen Leong is an economist, entrepreneur, lecturer and academic researcher. A graduate of Princeton University, he is currently an Assistant Professor of Economics at Nanyang Technological University. He is also an Associate Faculty Member at the Singapore Institute of Management, and consults for many private sector organisations, including Singapore Business Federation and Oxford Economics. His autobiography Singapore’s Lost Son: How I Made It From Dropout to Princeton PhD was published in 2012.
