Medical and Service Robotics integrate the most recent achievements in mechanics, mechatronics, computer science, haptic and teleoperation devices together with adaptive control algorithms. The book includes topics such as surgery robotics, assist devices, rehabilitation technology, surgical instrumentation and Brain-Machine Interface (BMI) as examples for medical robotics. Autonomous cleaning, tending, logistics, surveying and rescue robots, and elderly and healthcare robots are typical examples of topics from service robotics. This is the Proceedings of the Third International Workshop on Medical and Service Robots, held in Lausanne, Switzerland in 2014. It presents an overview of current research directions and fields of interest. It is divided into three sections, namely 1) assistive and rehabilitation devices; 2) surgical robotics; and 3) educational and service robotics. Most contributions are strongly anchored on collaborations between technical and medical actors, engineers, surgeons and clinicians. Biomedical robotics and the rapidly growing service automation fields have clearly overtaken the “classical” industrial robotics and automatic control centered activity familiar to the older generation of roboticists.

This volume describes new frontiers in medical and service robotics in the light of recent developments in technology to advance robot design and implementation. In particular, the work looks at advances in design, development and implementation of contemporary surgical, rehabilitation and biorobots. Surgical robots allow surgeons greater access to areas under operation using more precise and less invasive methods. Rehabilitation robots facilitate and support the lives of the infirm, elderly people, or those with dysfunction of body parts affecting movement. These robots are also used for rehabilitation and related procedures, such as training and therapy. Biorobots are designed to imitate the cognition of humans and animals. The need to substitute humans working on delicate, tiresome and monotonous tasks, or working with potentially health-damaging toxic materials, requires intelligent, high-performance service robots with the ability to cooperate, advanced communication and sophisticated perception and cognitive capabilities. Progress in this field is fast and results need to be disseminated to stimulate both practical applications and further research. Thus, these papers are a valuable addition to existing literature.

"New Concepts in Disease Spread and Control of Disease Spread" All venturesome scientists are aware of the many chances of going astray as they enter a new field particularly the more complex and difficult field of biology. Medicine is an ever-changing science; hence, was the name of this booklet "New Concepts in Disease Spread& Control of Disease Spread". The "New Concepts in Disease Spread and Control of Disease Spread" is demonstrating that there is a great world's burden of a flare-up of chronic illness beyond limits of traditional rules and statistics which could further indicate the existence of a missed underlying environmental pathologic error. The "New Concepts in Disease Spread& Control of Disease Spread" aims to illustrate that unless the definite pathologic etiology is precisely defined, the cure could never be adequate or successful as a definitive cure in the treatment of the cause but not the symptoms. The "New Concepts in Disease Spread& Control of Disease Spread" offers a new approach for the "Control of Disease Spread" via identifying the influence of the bacterium Helicobacter pylori abnormal-behavior/existence strains in "Disease Spread" during late decades. Hence; it allows an effective "Control of Disease Spread" through proper management of the challenge of H. pylori by employing natural measures and never antibiotics. The value of the "New Concepts in Disease Spread and Control of Disease Spread" lies in the real chance it gives for many people to avoid chronic and major illness in addition to the true promising opportunity of a fundamental cure for many patients with newly discovered or established chronic illness. All the literature of the "New Concepts in Disease Spread and Control of Disease Spread" has been peer-reviewed, accepted by international reviewers and mostly published in American and Canadian Medical Journals. Volume 1 of the series Changing the Global Approach to Medicine introduced the concept of RNA Vector Therapy, the innovative utilization of virus-like devices to deliver RNA molecules to protein deficient cells to provide a directed medical therapy. Volume 2 greatly expands this approach to configuring enhanced virus-like transport devices to deliver various forms of therapeutic materials to specific cell types. Medial Vector Therapy includes the delivery of DNA, chemotherapy and other drug molecules, oxygen, and nutrients as well as various forms of RNA to the cells that require such therapeutic interventions. This ingenious new approach to the management of challenging diseases has the distinct advantage of administering a broad spectrum of therapeutic elements directly to the cells in need, but dramatically limits the side effects by not exposing other cells in the body to the potential harmful effects of such therapies. Also introduced in this text are the innovative concepts the Quantum Gene and the Quadsistor.
