Reclaim your place in the kitchen and cook hearty, manly food you can’t wait to eat! “I don’t know how to cook!” say most men, citing that familiar excuse. Men seem to perform perfectly fine outside on the grill, but put an apron on them and hand them a whisk, and the wheels come off quickly. Author Fritz Brand thinks that men can challenge themselves to beat down this stereotype once and for all. In the spirit of fraternity, fellow man and home-cook convert Fritz Brand shows what works, how it works, and why it works, equipping readers with a working knowledge of kitchen basics while also divulging a few easy tricks, even if it means “faking it till ya make it.” Learn to cook for different occasions such as a romantic dinner for two, game night with the boys, feeding a horde of hungry children, or getting back in the mother-in-law’s good books (if that is even possible). To put the techniques into practice, Brand compiles sixty simple and thoroughly edible recipes—the kind of food you just want to eat—that any self-respecting man should be able to cook: • The cheeseburger • Spaghetti carbonara • Eggs "bacondict" • Beer-battered fish and chips • Buttermilk pancake stacks with bacon & maple syrup • And more! Part guide and part cookbook, Real Men Can Cook tells all men to confront their fears, drop the excuses, get their hands dirty, and cook like a man! Cocktails at Dinner

Cocktails at Dinner is equal parts cookbook and bar book. It explores a fascinating edge of the culinary frontier—food and cocktail pairings—with an imaginative collection of companionable recipes. As mixologists strive to catch up in culinary creativity with their counterparts in restaurant kitchens, collaboration has become a natural progression. Seriously interesting, ingredient-driven cocktails, concocted with top-shelf liquors, fresh seasonal fruits, flavored bitters, and other artisanal components, have begun to reflect a restaurant’s artful cuisine. First-rate food and mixed drinks—judiciously and harmoniously paired—become something more than the sum of the parts. The kitchen flows seamlessly into the bar, as cocktails take on a fresh, farm-to-glass aesthetic, and when paired with inspired dishes, the unions beget never-before-imagined taste sensations. Cocktails at Dinner serves as a vital introduction to these “new wave” combinations, bridging the gap between the upscale restaurant and the home kitchen and bar, for creative dinner parties and special occasions and for curious cooks and bartenders at all levels. It is meant to showcase a range of innovative and original yet accessible recipes from a diversity of cuisines that open the door to new possibilities in dining and entertaining. Michael Turback and Julia Hastings-Black have recruited working chefs and bartenders from forty-four progressive restaurants with innovative cocktail programs—each contributing the recipe for a cocktail paired with the recipe for a compatible small plate, main plate, or dessert. The process or methodology by which chef and bartender work in consort and their joint efforts to stretch palate perspectives are explored in lively headnotes, guiding the reader along the sensorial journey. Immensely readable, Cocktails at Dinner is an essential guide for everyone who loves food and drink. Skyhorse Publishing, along with our Good Books and Arcade imprints, is proud to publish a broad range of cookbooks, including books on juicing, grilling, baking, frying, home brewing and winemaking, slow cookers, and cast iron cooking. VEGETARIANS AND SEMI-VEGETARIANS LIVE LONGER AND HEALTHIER LIVES The healthiest and longest living people on earth eat plenty of vegetables, fruit and natural dairy products and very little meat according to author Dan Buettner who partnered with National Geographic and the National Institute on Aging to study the longest living people on earth. The mountain inhabitants in Sardinia, Italy, have the highest number of male centenarians in the world (10.8 per 1,000 newborns). In the isolated mountain villages of Sardinia they only eat pork or lamb on special occasions and only a little, but on a daily basis they eat plenty of cheese, especially pecorino cheese made from sheep's milk. Their very low meat consumption and high vegetable and cheese consumption makes them virtually lacto-vegetarians. The healthiest Americans are the vegetarian Seventh Day Adventists. A slow, gradual transition is needed to avoid shocking the body and mind as it detoxifies. The Transition Diet will take you step-by-step through the stages so your experience will be as smooth and pleasurable as possible. Bio-active water is the missing key to revive your body and mind. The 8-10 glasses of water a day we need should be bio-active, enzyme-rich water found in fruits and vegetables. Learn which food supplements will keep you young and energetic and which vegetables and fruits are the healthiest. Discover why traditionally raised, grass-fed yogurt and cheese actually prevent heart disease as shown by the French who eat large amounts of grass-fed dairy and have the lowest rate of heart disease of all developed nations, including Japan. The greatest error in vegetarian eating is the avoidance of pasture raised milk products like cheese and yogurt which provide calcium without phytic acid or high amounts of phosphorus, as is the case with nuts, seeds, soy and beans which prevent mineral absorption. What needs to be avoided is factory farmed dairy because the animals are given genetically modified, pesticide laden soy meal, cottonseed meal or other commercial feed, injected with antibiotics because they stand in manure all day and night, given hormones to increase milk output. This milk is then pasteurized which really means it's cooked, which destroys many of the vitamins and enzymes and renders 50% of the calcium unassimilable, yet does not kill all the typhoid, coli bacillus, tuberculosis and salmonella. Pasture raised dairy animals, on the other hand, are provided a protected, peaceful life grazing on green grass which in turn results in milk which is light years ahead of factory produced milk in nutrition and taste. Lactose intolerance can be overcome by using cultured milk products like cheese and yogurt. The vegetarian Essenes always included milk products like yogurt and cheese made from the milk of pasture raised, kindly treated animals, in their diet of fruits and vegetables. To the other extreme another error in healthful eating is the high meat, fish, egg and butter diet of the paleo and low carb eaters. A high meat diet is proven by numerous studies (that I list inside the book) to increase your chance of developing a life threatening disease like cancer or heart disease. I invite you and challenge you to take the first step right now and begin to live like the healthiest and longest living people on earth using The Transition Diet system. The reward is a new life of health and wellness for you and you
