(ATTENTION: "Papa's Footprint" is being withdrawn from sale. Currently, it is being rewritten into three separate books... For the present, the author would prefer the novella, (AVAILABLE NOW)"Dear Kate, Love, Henry," to be read first. The next novel (AVAILABLE in January) is, "Behind These Eyes Such Sweet Madness Lies." The third: "The Trunk in My Attic." (Let's Get Kirk Laid) will be released in late Spring, 2015. "These three books taken from 'Papa's Footprint' are, in series, my fiction/fact/ autobiographical odyssey, beginning with my birth, four million years ago, in what is now called, Ethiopia, in the Horn of Africa. From there, on through Europe to Broadway and Hollywood. All along, pondering the wonders and mysteries of life on this earth. I have been tutored on the marvelous and bewildering mysteries, concerning women, by Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, who, from time to time, resides in the attic behind my eyes. My relationship with God, whom I often refer to as BIG ROOSTER, has been rough, though respectful. I have fathered wonderfully fascinating children... three of which were born in the 1700s... losing one of those, along with my dear wife, in childbirth. Seven others were born in this past century, four of which did follow me into the performing and creative arts. Of the other two, one is an RN, and the other is a "work at home" mom with nursing tendencies. At present, I have five grandchildren who are in process of sorting out their young lives. But, along with this good fortune, came the loss of my daughter, Justine, at the age of twenty-five, in a single car accident on the Merritt Parkway... dealing me a devastating blow. This book is dedicated to Justine. In order to emerge from that unbearable darkness, I, gradually, made steps forward by seeking and experiencing small doses of laughter. This laughter did perform as an opiate and balm, allowing me some much needed respite. Being in the arts, I've found and made friends with equally inquisitive minds, expressing their thoughts on stage, on canvas, in print, in song, and in good conversation. I have been educated and entertained by knowing and sharing with their generous spirits. I confess to having had many loves along the way, but I am happily committed to spending eternity with my dear Kate. Kate and I fell in love, when we were about fifteen years old, in my Aunt Ella and Uncle Gravy's vegetable garden, in Horse Shoe Bend, Tennessee, back in 1845. I ventured west, seeking California's gold, with which I planned to purchase some land along the Cumberland. For various reasons, Kate would not hear from me for forty years, or more. This did not bode well for the keeping of my promise to Kate. I thought I'd found her again in the autumn of 1940, but this turned out to be a mistake. As I grow older, I do take great pleasure in reliving past performances, both on stage, and off, with some very exciting women... (Presently, Vivien Leigh) mostly creative and performing artists. However, most of my activities take place within the confines of the available attic space behind my eyes. But, what a show!!! I revisit these meetings by using a technique, I first came upon, in the desert, on my way to California. I call this "travelling without leaving..". which turns out to be a saving grace at my advancing age. I have written this book to better reveal myself to myself and to my children and grandchildren, and to any and all other interested parties. I've experienced successes and failures... thrills and disappointments... euphoria and tragedy... all making up a personal footprint that I leave behind, as I continue. My footprint leaves poems, letters, fable, humorous paintings, oral histories, family folklore with some added "tater stretching," and many stories about my navigation through an unpredictable terrain called "show business." Some call me Henry... some call me Hank... and some call me Papa. Some call me "Buddy." This is my story. Love,

An epic Celtic sojourn in search of ancestors, nostalgia, and the world?s greatest round of golf In his thirties, married, and staring down impending fatherhood, Tom Coyne was well familiar with the last refuge of the adult male: the golfing trip. Intent on designing a golf trip to end all others, Coyne looked to Ireland, the place where his father had taught him to love the game years before. As he studied a map of the island and plotted his itinerary, it dawned on Coyne that Ireland was ringed with golf holes. The country began to look like one giant round of golf, so Coyne packed up his clubs and set off to play all of it. And since Irish golfers didn?t take golf carts, neither would he. He would walk the entire way. A Course Called Ireland is the story of a walking- averse golfer who treks his way around an entire country, spending sixteen weeks playing every seaside hole in Ireland and often battling through all four seasons in one Irish afternoon. Coyne plays everything from the top-ranked links in the world to nine-hole courses crowded with livestock. Along the way, he searches out his family?s roots, discovers that a once-poor country has been transformed by an economic boom, and finds that the only thing tougher to escape than Irish sand traps are Irish pubs. By turns hilarious and poetic, A Course Called Ireland is a magnificent tour of a vibrant land and a paean to the world?s greatest game.

The book, Alfie and Papa’s Other Boys, is the fourth in a series which began with ‘Alfie’s Story, Little Boy Growing Up.’ After that the exciting story of ‘Alfie and the Moonshiners.’ Next came ‘And the Rest of Alfie’s Story.’ I really thought that was the rest of the story. It wasn’t. Now we have these tales, beginning with Papa’s Missing Toe, and ending with ‘Tis a Mark of Distinction. There is not a dull moment in between these two fascinating pictures of Papa’s role in the lives of his four boys. Willie is the oldest, the “ring leader” in all their mischief, and the embodiment of primogeniture because Margaret died. There is Cliff. Gran’ma characterized him when she said “Give that boy a wheel and he will roll it off the edge of the world.” And Junior is Alfie’s nemesis; he is just enough bigger than Alfie to taunt him, and not bigger enough to control him. Lastly, there is Alfie, the Baby, impulsive, irrepressible and curious beyond belief. But always the Baby until the arrival of Jody, ten years late for this book of Alfie tales.
