All through his growing-up years, John Danalis's family had an Aboriginal skull on the mantelpiece; yet only as an adult after enrolling in an Indigenous Writing course did he ask his family where it came from and whether it should be restored to its rightful owners. This is the compelling story of how the skull of an Aboriginal man, found on the banks of the Murray River more than 40 years ago, came to be returned to his Wamba Wamba descendants. It is a story of awakening, atonement, forgiveness, and friendship. ""It is as if a whole window into Indigenous culture has blown open, not jus.

Seumas McKinnon has just retired from an advertising job in Melbourne. He would be free to leave Australia, as a widower with no attachmentsexcept for his son, Alasdair, a successful lawyer. Although theyre grown men, Seumas and Alasdair share a strong dependency that keeps Seumas stuck in a rut. He cant meet anyone with Alasdair constantly around; even though he loves his son, he decides its time for some time apart. Seumas heads to the Isle of Skye in Scot-land. He hopes to embrace his familial roots and learn some Gaelic along the way. The separation is initially hard on both of them, but soon, Seumas meets Morag, a lovely, charming woman whom he finds immediately attractive. They strike up a relationship, even though they both know Seumas plans to return to Australia. Back home, Alasdair meets someone, tooAnnie OHare, a physiotherapist recently returned from Hong Kong. Initially she refuses to take him seriously. Apart, father and son seem to thrive. Eventually, Seumas returns to Melbourne, happy to feel some emotional distance from his clingy son. Then a tragic and nearly fatal accident occurs that bonds the McKinnon boys more than ever before. Perhaps Seumass trip to Scotland was all in vain, or per-haps his absence gave him a chance to see the true importance of love and family.

An unconventional woman clashes with colonial society in this spicy and sweet Australian–set historical romance. His carefree bachelor days over, Christopher Matcham returns to Sydney to take responsibility for his mother, two stepsisters, and the family property. Fortune smiles on him when he is introduced to Matilda Sweet, a woman in need of work. Though unusual, Christopher senses that her fresh ideals and positive outlook can only benefit his sisters, so he hires her as a companion. By the time they arrive at Christopher's family home, the two are fast friends. But Matilda's unorthodox ways and her convict heritage make her a second class citizen to the family. Christopher has responsibilities, and they include an advantageous match. A breeches–wearing, fish–pond–swimming, plain–talking convict's daughter will never figure in. After all, romance is a luxury the upper classes cannot afford...
