Experience spans Eliasson's career to date via images of his installations, sculptures, paintings, photographs, films, architectural projects, and interventions in public space - each with an extended caption to guide readers through the work Conceived in close collaboration with the artist, this survey tracks almost three decades of Eliasson's artistic practice - including works completed in 2018. Hundreds of illustrations are introduced by a perceptive essay by art historian Michelle Kuo and an interview with Eliasson. The book provides an unparalleled overview of his creative output, which speaks to an astonishingly varied audience, from large-scale installations such as The weather project, which drew over two million visitors to London's Tate Modern in 2003-4, to smaller, more delicate works, such as watercolours, compasses, and glass works. Views of his dynamic studio in Berlin round out the picture. An inspiring guide to the work of one of today's most multi-faceted and influential artists, Experience includes such pivotal artworks as Green river (1998), Ice Watch (2014), and Waterfall at the Palace of Versailles in Paris (2016), and gives an invaluable glimpse into many of his lesser-known works. It also features brand-new projects A view of things to come, Reality projector, and The unspeakable openness of things, which was installed in Beijing in March 2018. Katharina Grosse has created a new set of works for the Temporäre Kunsthalle. Grosse's Shadowbox installation views, which are presented in this catalogue, form a new pictorial ground in the form of a huge concave ellipse. Functions and qualities of architecture, sculpture and painting are taken on and brought together in the four objects. The curved surfaces are cut outs and perforations of the original, the basic geometric shape crossing into the surrounding space. By painting the front side of these shapes, Grosse develops an illusionistic pictorial space, which deviates from the factuality of its carrier. The painting reaches out well beyond its borders and frees itself from the concrete spatial conditions of the exhibition hall. English and German text.

People who work in an office spend at least a third of their lifetime in these spaces. The planning of office and administration buildings can therefore contribute a great deal to the satisfaction and well-being of future users. The book looks at the health-relevant factors that affect people in office and administration buildings and therefore deserve special attention in the planning process. In doing so, the authors are guided by a concept of health as defined by the World Health Organization: Accordingly, health encompasses mental as well as social and physical well-being and thus goes far beyond the factors laid down in legal norms and guidelines. In this volume, architects and designers, physicians and ergonomists deal with all aspects of interior design seen from a health perspective: What role does colour design play, what significance do light, air and noise have? What does a demand-oriented building technology look like and how is the office furniture adequately designed? Which medical and hygienic aspects have to be considered? How can offices be designed in terms of work-life balance and how will the office change in the course of digitalisation? The book serves as a guideline that can be applied chapter by chapter in the planning of health-promoting office spaces - depending on the interests of the reader. Problems that arise are discussed using examples, and checklists help you with planning and implementation. The guide is aimed at building owners, architects, engineers, but also at lawyers, psychologists and doctors as well as university members in the field of economics and engineering.

With its exposed spine stitching and variety of paper stocks, this survey of Olafur Eliasson's very rarely seen artist's books elevates his work in bookmaking to the status of his better-known projects, such as his New York waterfalls, and is indeed an artist's book in itself. Printed Matter closely examines 25 of Eliasson's books dating back to 1997, and reveals a whole oeuvre of artist's books--57 titles in all--that will come as a revelation to those who may not closely identify the artist with this medium. Eliasson's exhibition catalogues are always designed with pronounced care, and many are already long out of print or hard to find. Here, in spreads and thorough annotations, we encounter his considered musings on book form and design, and the complex process of book collaboration. Printed Matter also supplies a bibliography of all of Eliasson's books to date, alongside an interview with the artist.

Take Back the Tray

A beloved chef takes on institutional food and sparks a revolution Good food generally doesn’t arrive on a tray: hospital food is famously ridiculed, chronic student hunger is deemed a rite of passage, and prison meals are considered part of the punishment. But Chef Joshna Maharaj knows that institutional kitchens have the ability to produce good, nourishing food, because she’s been making it happen over the past 14 years. She’s served meals to people who’d otherwise go hungry, baked fresh scones for maternity ward mothers, and dished out wholesome, scratch-made soups to stressed-out undergrads. She’s determined to bring health, humanity, and hospitality back to institutional food while also building sustainability, supporting the local economy, and reinvigorating the work of frontline staff. Take Back the Tray is part manifesto, part memoir from the trenches, and a blueprint for reclaiming control from corporations and brutal bottom lines. Maharaj reconnects food with health, wellness, education, and rehabilitation in a way that serves people, not just budgets, and proves change is possible with honest, sustained commitment on all levels, from government right down to the person sorting the trash. The need is clear, the time is now, and this revolution is delicious.
