Learning a language should be fun and easy. Because of this belief, we created this interlaced, English to Spanish edition of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. An interlaced translation helps you learn new words, pick up grammar, and see how ideas are expressed by placing sentences next to each other. This format allows for natural, comfortable reading flow so you can learn while enjoying some of the greatest stories ever told. Here's an example from the first story in this book: "Was there a secret marriage?" [-¿Hubo algún matrimonio secreto?-] "None." [-No.-] "No legal papers or certificates?" [-¿Algún documento legal o certificado?-] "None." [-Ninguno.-] "Then I fail to follow your Majesty. [-Entonces no logro comprender a su majestad.] If this young person should produce her letters for blackmailing or other purposes, how is she to prove their authenticity?" [Si esta joven sacara a relucir las cartas, para chantajearle o por cualquier otro propósito, ¿cómo podría ella demostrar su autenticidad?-] Learning a language requires learning what words and expressions mean, then getting enough repetitions so that those words and expressions stick in your memory. By reading this translation, you get to enjoy the story, but at the same time you're learning and reinforcing those core words and expressions that make up a language. It's like being immersed every time you sit down to read. Use Amazon's "Search inside this book" feature to read a few pages and see how easy learning a language can be.

THE ADVENTURES OF SHERLOCK HOLMES Vol.1: English & French IMPORTANT NOTE: The English text has been modernised and adapted, and has in large part been rewritten according to the French translation. THIS EDITION: Volume 1 of this bilingual edition of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes contains three stories: 'The Red-headed Association'; 'A Case of Identity'; and 'The Five Orange Pips'. This volume includes an introductory section summarising the important aspects of French grammar. The digital edition also contains a translation skills test. The dual-language text has been arranged into small bilingual snippets for quick and easy cross-referencing. The content is ideal for assisting the intermediate language learner to transition to foreign language only content. Also, if the content is too difficult, there is other material put out by 2Langauge Books that can help. The book can be read in parallel text format (side by side), but can also be read only in English, or only in French. The eventual aim is to read with a comfortable level of understanding only in the foreign language. If you are a beginner, read the native language snippet first. If you are at an intermediate level, read the foreign language snippet first. The advanced level is like the beginners level, except you have to try and figure out the foreign language text, instead of having it provided. One way to do this is to cover the foreign text snippet. In the digital edition, you can take an intermediate or advanced level skills test. Many basic language books offer some form of audio support. Internet services - primarily news based radio stations - offer podcasts. Audio from television is an additional resource, and can be formatted for use on various digital platforms. However, if audio is an important component of your interest in languages, electronic devices that support quality text-to-speech (TTS) will likely be appealing. With a library card, TTS technology (in a device that supports the relevant content), and the above mentioned resources (as digital content), an entire language learning system is available for not much more than a cup of coffee! There is no substantial financial outlay to get you started. Furthermore, there are no additional ongoing fees (and updates), and there are no expiry dates on 'premium' content and resources. Since his first appearance in Beeton’s Christmas Annual in 1887, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes has been one of the most beloved fictional characters ever created. Now, in one eBook, Bantam Classics presents all fifty-six short stories and four novels featuring Conan Doyle’s classic hero—a truly complete collection of Sherlock Holmes’s adventures in crime! Volume I includes the early novel A Study in Scarlet, which introduced the eccentric genius of Sherlock Holmes to the world. This baffling murder mystery, with the cryptic word Rache written in blood, first brought Holmes together with Dr. John Watson. Next, The Sign of Four presents Holmes’s famous “seven percent solution” and the strange puzzle of Mary Morstan in the quintessential locked-room mystery. Also included are Holmes’s feats of extraordinary deception in such famous cases as the chilling “The Adventure of the Speckled Band,” the baffling riddle of “The Musgrave Ritual,” and the ingeniously plotted “The Five Orange Pips.” Volume II begins with The Hound of Baskervilles, a haunting novel of murder on eerie Grimpen Moor, which has rightly earned its reputation as the finest murder mystery ever written. The Valley of Fear matches Holmes against his archenemy, the master of imaginative crime, Professor Moriarty. In addition, the loyal Dr. Watson has faithfully recorded Holmes’s feats of extraordinary detection in such famous cases as the thrilling “The Adventure of the Red Circle,” Holmes’s tragic and fortunately premature farewell in “The Final Problem,” and the twelve baffling adventures from The Case Book of Sherlock Holmes. Conan Doyle’s incomparable tales bring to life a Victorian England of horse-drawn cabs, fogs, and the famous lodgings at 221 B Baker Street, where for more than forty years Sherlock Holmes earned his undisputed reputation as the greatest fictional detective of all time.

The eleven stories gathered together in these two volumes share their own common feature. All have connections to the world of belles lettres, the world of literature - some to celebrated authors in particular, others to themes or stories associated with specific writers . . . . Let others plumb this collection for more subtle themes. From Maupassant to Stevenson to Fitzgerald, the authorial giants who populate these pages are explanation enough for its title. As interesting as such literary associations may be, of course, one can never forget that in the finest tradition of all the other adventures of Sherlock Holmes, these sketches depict a series of heartless criminal acts - some more gruesome than others.

Radio legend Jim French was already well known for producing excellent radio dramas, as well as creating Imagination Theatre and its "Movies for your mind" when, in March 1998, the first episode of The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes was broadcast, with adventures steeped in the finest of old-time radio tradition while presenting the true Canonical Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson. In the following years, Jim French wrote an astonishing 50 original Holmes episodes for the series - and now these are collected together in three companion volumes. In 2017, MX Publishing released Imagination Theatre's Sherlock Holmes, a volume featuring scripts from the show that were contributed by Mr. French, as well as each of the other fifteen writers who had written the 130-plus Holmes episodes for the show. All author royalties were donated to the preservation of Undershaw, one of the former homes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sadly, Mr. French passed away in early 2018, soon after the book's publication, but his legacy lives on. Now, in honor of both Jim French and his Sherlockian legacy, we present The Further Adventures of Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Jim French Imagination Theatre Scripts, a three-volume set containing all fifty of Mr. French's Holmes scripts. Hopefully you were lucky enough to hear these adventures when they were broadcast by Imagination Theatre. Now they are offered in text form as well. These scripts are some of the finest Holmesian storytelling to be found, with stories about the Canonical Sherlock Holmes, the man described by Watson as "the best and wisest . . . whom I have ever known." Fifty Original Sherlock Holmes Scripts by Jim French with forewords by Lawrence Albert (Imagination Theatre's "Dr. Watson") John Patrick Lowrie (Imagination Theatre's "Sherlock Holmes") and David Marcum All royalties from this collection are being donated by thewriters for the benefit of the preservation of Undershaw, one of the former homes of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
