They thought we were safe. They were wrong. Lee and Mal went looking for monsters on Bodmin Moor four years ago, and only Lee came back. She thought she’d lost Mal forever, now miraculously returned. But what happened that day on the moors? And where has Mal been all this time? Mal's reappearance hasn’t gone unnoticed by MI5 either, and their officers also have questions. Julian Sabreur is investigating an attack on top physicist Kay Amal Khan. This leads Julian to clash with agents of an unknown power – and they may or may not be human. His only clue is grainy footage, showing a woman who supposedly died on Bodmin Moor. Dr Khan’s research was theoretical; then she found cracks between our world and parallel Earths. Now these cracks are widening, revealing extraordinary creatures. And as the doors come crashing open, anything could come through. 'Inventive, funny and engrossing, this book lingers long after you close it' - Tade Thompson, Arthur C. Clarke Award-winning author of Rosewater Adrian Tchaikovsky brought us far-future adventure with Children of Time. Now The Doors of Eden takes us from Bodmin Moor to London and alternate versions of earth. This is an extraordinary feat of the imagination and a page-turning adventure.

From the author of the thrilling science-fiction epic Children of Time, which won the prestigious Arthur C. Clarke Award. ‘One of the most interesting and accomplished writers in speculative fiction’ – Christopher Paolini Eyes of the Void is the second high-octane instalment in Adrian Tchaikovsky's Final Architecture space opera trilogy. After eighty years of fragile peace, the Architects are back, wreaking havoc as they consume entire planets. In the past, Originator artefacts – vestiges of a long-vanished civilization – could save a world from annihilation. Yet the Architects have discovered a way to circumvent these protective relics. Suddenly, no planet is safe. Facing impending extinction, the Human Colonies are in turmoil. While some believe a unified front is the only way to stop the Architects, others insist humanity should fight alone. And there are those who would seek to benefit from the fractured politics of war – even as the Architects loom ever closer. Idris, who has spent decades running from the horrors of his past, finds himself thrust back onto the battlefront. As an Intermediary, he could be one of the few to turn the tide of war. With a handful of allies, he searches for a weapon that could push back the Architects and save the galaxy. But to do so, he must return to the nightmarish unspace, where his mind was broken and remade. What Idris discovers there will change everything. Praise for Adrian Tchaikovsky: ‘[Adrian] writes incredibly enjoyable sci-fi, full of life and ideas’ – Patrick Ness, author of The Knife of Never Letting Go ‘Brilliant science fiction’ – James McAvoy on Children of Time ‘Full of sparkling, speculative invention’ – Stephen Baxter, author of the Xeelee Sequence on The Doors of Eden

This high-stakes space-based adventure will be perfect for those who loved Children of Time, also by Adrian Tchaikovsky. The war is over. Its heroes forgotten. Until one chance discovery . . . Idris has neither aged nor slept since they remade his mind in the war. And one of humanity’s heroes now scrapes by on a freelance salvage vessel, to avoid the attention of greater powers. Eighty years ago, Earth was destroyed by an alien enemy. Many escaped, but millions more died. So mankind created enhanced humans such as Idris - who could communicate mind-to-mind with our aggressors. Then these ‘Architects’ simply disappeared and Idris and his kind became obsolete. Now, Idris and his crew have something strange, abandoned in space. It’s clearly the work of the Architects – but are they really returning? And if so, why? Hunted by gangsters, cults and governments, Idris and his crew race across the galaxy hunting for answers. For they now possess something of incalculable value, that many would kill to obtain it. Praise for Adrian Tchaikovsky: ‘Brilliant science fiction’ – James McAvoy on Children of Time ‘Full of sparkling, speculative invention’ – Stephen Baxter on The Doors of Eden Shards of Earth is the first thrilling instalment in the Final Architecture trilogy - by award-winning novelist Adrian Tchaikovsky.

REVIEWS MUST read!, May 6, 2008 By G.P. - See all my reviews This is definitely a must read for anyone, Doors fan or not. It's one of the best bios I've read. No 'fluff' here. Paul tells it like it is, and has had an amazing life. His time with the Doors is well documented but he doesn't get enough credit for being THE Doors official photographer and filmmaker. You'll read about his time spent with the Doors, not to mention being one of Morrison's pals. Be prepared to read stories you've never read before. Even if you're not a Doors fan, the book is still a great read. Paul's life was and still is interesting to say the least. You'll be amazed at some of the people Paul knows and worked with. Everything is covered here including his adventures in Thailand, his ranch in New Mexico and his career in the movie industry. I give this book two thumbs up. Check it out! I read Paul's book and it was a big surprise. As a huge Doors fan, I'm aware of his well known photographic and film work for the band and his close relationship with them (mainly with Jim and Ray since the UCLA Days). In the meantime there are lots of details in this book who will delight the fans, details of journeys, partnership, work and so on.... But... Paul's life was much more than Jim and the boys "momento" ( Jim and the "blue lady" at the book's cover is just one of the highlights of the all experience). . Hold your breath. you will be on board of a fantastic trip into childhood, family, friends, girls, party, cinema, music, "sex, drugs and rock n'roll", cars, jail, joy, death, love, etc, .... Rui

Arte Povera was among the most important aggregations not just in Italian art of the 1960s, but in all avant garde art from that period. Roughly translated as "poor art", the term was coined by the critic Germano Celant to describe the radical use of common objects in the work of such artists as Anselmo, Boetti, Calzolari, Fabro, Kounellis, Metz, Merz, Paolini, Pistoletto, Penone, and Zorio. Until now, this conceptually daring and rebellious movement has lacked a single, adequate book to put it into perspective. With extensive photographic documentation of the unrepeatable works which defined the movement, this book is important and provocative.

Williamsburg, Virginia, is once more the scene in this second book of Thane's series, but the time is now the 1860s. Some of the characters are the descendants of those in the first novel, Dawn's Early Light, and Grandmother Day, who was 16 when Cornwallis surrendered at Yorktown, is now 95. Once, she can remember, it was Massachusetts that was threatening to secede instead of South Carolina. And when she was a girl they never seemed to think much about Yankees, one way or the other. But when a Yankee comes to Williamsburg in the tense autumn of 1860 and red-haired Eden Day falls heels over head in love with him, her great grandmother takes the long view—besides, she likes him herself. The story moves from Williamsburg to Richmond to Washington and back again during the dreadful years between Fort Sumter and Appomattox. In addition to the fictitious characters, Jeb Stuart and General Lee, Pickett, Magruder, and Stonewall Jackson are all seen through the eyes of the men who followed them into battle. Like Dawn's Early Light, Yankee Stranger is full of action and romance, but most importantly, it presents a vivid re-creation of a vanished world.
