1903 saw The Adventure of The Empty House and the return of Sherlock Holmes to 221b Baker Street where he explains the deception of his death at the Reichenbach Falls to his faithful friend Dr John Watson. 2012 sees The Crime of The Empty House where the former home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Undershaw, lies in disrepair and the threat of being destroyed forever. Commissioned by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle himself, Undershaw was witness to the creation of many of his most famous works, including The Hound of the Baskervilles and The Return of Sherlock Holmes. It is a building deserving preservation for the British nation, and indeed the world, for all time. Sadly, the building is currently under threat from the property developers who wish to divide the house into 3 separate units and build a further 5 alongside. Planning permission for development has already been approved by Waverley Borough Council. The Undershaw Preservation Trust (UPT), with Mark Gatiss [BBC Sherlock] as Patron, is dedicated to the preservation and protection of this important literary building and are campaigning to get this decision overturned, so the house can be restored to its original glory and enjoyed as the single dwelling Sir Arthur Conan Doyle intended it to be. This book is a collection of short Sherlock Holmes stories and poems written by fans from around the world in support of the Save Undershaw campaign - even the cover has been designed by fans. Royalties from the book go towards the UPT to preserve this wonderful house for future generations of Doyleans, Sherlock Holmes enthusiasts and literary fans of all kinds. More information on the Save Undershaw campaign can be found on their website: www.saveundershaw.com.

The Empty House Mystery combines a real puzzle with the story of Ted Wilford's strenuous efforts to get out the bi-weekly Town Crier while the editor is ill. Ted and his friend, Nelson, who have just graduated from high school, devote part of their pre-college summer to finding the thief of a set of plans for the new state thruway. It all began for Ted one day in the office of The Town Crier when a man came in to advertise in the "Lost and Found" column for a missing folder with a peculiar zipper. Later, when it was brought to the office by the finder, Ted, carried away by his desire to demonstrate the splendid service offered by the paper, personally left the folder at the advertiser's address. It turned out to be an empty house, but Ted had reasons for thinking it was logical to leave it there. However, later when he discovered that the folder really contained plans stolen from the highway department, Ted knew he must find it as quickly as possible. The quest leads Nelson and him into adventures in several empty houses, into an investigation of the mysteriously ringing telephones, and, finally, to a completely different solution than he or the reader had anticipated. The daily doings in a small-town newspaper office plus a well-plotted story make another satisfying Ted Wilford mystery."

In sum, then, female/female sex is prohibited because of it cannot constitute bi?ah, and it is not bi?ah because women are seen as interior and men are seen as exterior. Interiority cannot create a halakhic change in status. This framework of markedness and resistance against Hellenistic asceticism has shown that the legal sanctions and conception of (marked) gender constructed by the rabbis is androcentric. While the phenomenon of women?s bodies as marked is one that can be seen across many cultures, the way in which the rabbis conceive of female gender is unique to Judaism. This provides a case study through which we can achieve a better understanding of the constructedness of gender and the phenomenon of androcentrism. Although this paper has united concepts that most likely not seen by the sages as explicitly related, it is my hope that this work may clarify the reasons behind the rabbis? conclusions regarding female homoeroticism. This historical context may help to elucidate the prescriptions and proscriptions of those sages who were products of their time.

A story of contemporary Chile by one of its most prominent novelists, An Empty House depicts the dissolution of an upper-middle-class family against a chilling background of exile, return, and discovery. The stark and moving narrative suggests the enormity of the horrors perpetrated in Chile over the last decades, horrors that resonate through the culture to this day. Cecilia and Manuel accept her father?s gift of a house, in hope of repairing their unraveling marriage along with the badly scarred building. Instead, the couple?s efforts expose the horrifying truth about the building?and reveal the subtle strands of complicity, responsibility, and indifference that bind them to each other, their country, and its dark past. ø With its deftly drawn characters, play of ideas, and vivid dialogue, An Empty House gives English-speaking readers a memorable portrait of Chile today: honest, brutally realistic, but with a redemptive touch of lyricism and hope.

The Full House and the Empty House are very good friends--when they dance they admire in each other the qualities they lack within themselves. Even though the houses are different on the inside, it doesn't reflect how they feel on the outside.
