Tanner loves her, but can’t see himself as a father figure or imagine how he’s going to build his business during his busiest season with a child in tow until his newest client—his high school crush who still makes his heart pound—has a proposition that will help them both as long as Tanner can resist the tempting lure of the girl next door. Elementary school teacher Francie Tate moved back to Marietta to be close to her ailing father. She plans to settle in and fix up her little bungalow before the school year starts, but definitely needs help with the neglected yard. She’s shocked when the landscaper she hired turns out to be a class mate. Tanner used to be shy in school, but he isn't the same kid anymore–he’s tall, sexy, and has the most striking brown eyes she's ever seen. When Francie learns of Tanner’s need for child care, she impulsively offers to watch his half-sister for the summer in return for some landscaping and renovations around the house. It seems like a win-win, but Francie didn’t bargain on falling in love.

This book is about a family finding themselves in a desperate situation after the loss of their mother. With help from caring individuals, a home was found for the children at the Methodist Children's Home in Winston - Salem, NC. "Pop" Woosley and his dedicated and understanding care givers provided the education and leadership that directed the children toward an opportunity for a better life. The life of the boy, Fred Tanner, and what his physical and emotional experiences were well documented as he describes the daily life at this home where he lived for 16 years. In some instances, living in an orphanage is much better than living in some family situations. The structured living environment was so designed that one home mother could manage the behavior of 30 boys. The boys had the opportunity to get into boyhood mischief, and that they did! Boys had their own understanding of "orphan humor." Some boys lived the life that would rival Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer while some boys were mellow and studious. Through sports, work responsibility, scouting and some social events the boys were mellowed somewhat into responsible young boys. Hard work and discipline were a matter of fact and became the life habits of most of that were raised at this home. Opportunity for further education was made available through work programs and college assistance to those that wished to attend. Most all boys served a tour in the military. Children and their parents, many in not much better situations than we were, gave their pennies and nickles so that we could have a pair of shoes or a decent set of clothes. This was most humiliating. Other people of means were kind enough to see the need of over four hundred children.

Thousands of years ago, human civilizations were slaves to Gods & Titans. In truth, these beings were merely aliens, non-immortal human-like life forms from a world called Sonora. A war broke out that ended their rule on humanity, led by the famously known, so-called Gods of ancient civilizations. Victorious, the Gods of Earth established an order of Guardians, tasked to defend humans against the unauthorized passage of Sonorian invaders. Many years later, the balance of power shifts, and the King of Sonora is murdered by a malevolent General who seeks ultimate power. As this new King's power grows, evil forces takeover in Sonora, and eventually push that world toward the brink of war. The Guardians of Earth are now at a precipice, and their only hope is to protect the Sonorian rebellion and hope that they can find a way to defeat this new King before he amasses an army large enough to invade Earth. Sasquatch, one of the most famous Guardians, monitors the gateway in North America where a group of Sonorian rebels have assimilated into the small mountain community of Sandy, Oregon. His task becomes even more complicated when he learns that he must protect the last bloodline of the rightful heir to the Sonorian throne. Allora is unaware of her alien and royal heritage until she becomes the victim of a malicious prank. Embarrassed in front of her peers, her emotions become overwhelming, causing her hands to burst into flames. The sudden and public outburst projects an energy signature that attracts assassins to the small town. Allora and her friends Tanner, Dax, and Katie must learn the ways of combat, master the art of the sword, and harness the ability to focus energized molecules, called hadrons, in order to meet their destiny and become true Sonorian warriors. Their only hope for survival is an ancient artifact, known as the Eye of the Titans. To find it, Allora, Katie, Dax, and Tanner must solve complex riddles, fight mythical creatures, and navigate a magical cavern maze, all the while enduring advanced calculus, jealous cheerleading girlfriends, and the much anticipated prom.
