This is done through unravelling layers and layers of density that most of us accumulate throughout our lives, and which often initiate and perpetuate chronic disease. Once you touch the light of your being, you illuminate the dark recesses of your thoughts, emotions and your physical body, thus facilitating the healing of any chronic illness. The exercises given in this book allow you to gain more clarity about your life’s mission, heal old emotional wounds, lift subconscious blocks, remove limiting beliefs, enter the natural flow of the Universe and fearlessly embrace uncertainty. Dr. Naeem is a critical care specialist, pulmonologist and palliative care specialist, whose unique insights into healing stem from caring for tens of thousands of critically and chronically ill patients for more than a decade in two countries. This experience, combined with his own search for the meaning of existence and the true nature of ultimate reality, has culminated into the incredible journey which is the subject of this book.

A history and theory of settler colonialism and social control Many would rather change worlds than change the world. The settlement of communities in 'empty lands' somewhere else has often been proposed as a solution to growing contradictions. While the lands were never empty, sometimes these communities failed miserably, and sometimes they prospered and grew until they became entire countries. Building on a growing body of transnational and interdisciplinary research on the political imaginaries of settler colonialism as a specific mode of domination, this book uncovers and critiques an autonomous, influential, and coherent political tradition - a tradition still relevant today. It follows the ideas and the projects (and the failures) of those who left or planned to leave growing and chaotic cities and challenging and confusing new economic circumstances, those who wanted to protect endangered nationalities, and those who intended to pre-empt forthcoming revolutions of all sorts, including civil and social wars. They displaced, and moved to other islands and continents, beyond the settled regions, to rural districts and to secluded suburbs, to communes and intentional communities, and to cyberspace. This book outlines the global history of a resilient political idea: to seek change somewhere else as an alternative to embracing (or resisting) transformation where one is.

The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989 drastically altered life in Cuba. Theatre artists were faced with new economic and social realities that changed their day-to-day experiences and ways of looking at the world beyond the island. The Cuban Revolution’s resistance to and intersections with globalization, modernity, emigration and privilege are central to the performances examined in this study. The first book-length study in English of Cuban and Cuban American plays, Cuba Inside Out provides a framework for understanding texts and performances that support, challenge, and transgress boundaries of exile and nationalism. Prizant reveals the intricacies of how revolution is staged theatrically, socially, and politically on the island and in the Cuban diaspora. This close examination of seven plays written since 1985 seeks to alter how U.S. audiences perceive Cuba, its circumstances, and its theatre.

One summer’s afternoon, after reading some old personal notebooks and journals of mine from the 1960s and 70s, I found myself perplexed and astonished at the course my life has in fact taken. So I decided to write some poems. Together they form The Shining Path: a poetic narrative winding its autobiographical way across key locations on my life’s time line. My bafflement dispersed as three guiding voices began to speak for themselves from the depths of the path: —The voice of the poet narrating and reflecting —The voice of the pilgrim trekking towards eternity’s sunrise —The voice of the warrior of light clarifying and guarding the way W. A FRESH TAKE ON THE INBORN CHARACTERISTIC OF RESILIENCE Most people are convinced that the key to rising above a perceived problem is to think about it, analyze all angles, and try hard to solve it. But the fact is: Problems in the world are mounting. War, famine, and strife exist at alarming rates. Not to mention that the level of respect within our families and communities seems to be fraying. Simply put, our behavior is not up to par these days; it is spiraling downward. Why? We’re not connecting the dots. In the arenas of psychology, teaching, coaching, and parenting, we’re using behavioral strategies to boost inner levels of clarity and consciousness—to no avail. So, if focusing on behavior isn’t working, what will? The Path of No Resistance provides a brand-new look at how human beings really overcome adversity. Along the way, Garret Kramer reveals the astonishing truth about what creates our troubles in the first place. And what we already know, deep down, that allows us to prosper in spite of any circumstance or situation. Offering an array of examples, Kramer demonstrates that resilience and contentment are—in principle—innate to everyone. He insists that calculated self-help methods are not the answer, and explains why insight, not intellect, is what fuels our ability to excel and give back to others.

The evolution of human beings has been shaped to a large extent by microbes. A number of microbes are innocuous or even contribute to our health equilibrium. This is the case of bacteria and viral phages present in our gut. However, several bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi are damaging our bodies, causing a number of acute and chronic diseases. Until recently, these bugs represented the main causes of death. Better hygiene, vaccines, antibiotics and other anti-microbial drugs have resulted in a better control or cure of many infections. However, malaria, tuberculosis, and AIDS still represent major threats in several countries and the recent epidemics of Ebola and Zika demonstrate how vulnerable we are to newly emerging viruses. Furthermore, diarrhea and pneumonia caused by bacteria or viruses still kill millions of children worldwide. Most importantly, bacteria resistant to existing antibiotics are multiplying at a high pace and these superbugs are expected to kill more and more people in the coming years. Clearly, we need to develop more effective approaches to tackle bugs and superbugs. Better hygiene and better vaccine coverage must be considered first and education of kids is essential in this respect. This is the main objective of this series of papers published in Frontiers for Young Minds under the heading “How to Fight Harmful Microbial Bugs and Superbugs?”. Another key objective of the collection is to elicit the interest of children for research on innovative anti-microbial therapies and vaccines.

Practiced by over 1.8 billion people, Islam is the world’s second largest faith, yet most of us don’t know what the beliefs of Islam actually are. ‘Inside the Soul of Islam: A Unique View Into the Love, Beauty, and Wisdom of Islam For Spiritual Seekers of All Faiths’ gives a much-needed understanding of this widely misinterpreted faith, and an insight into the essential teachings, universal values, and deep spirituality it offers us all. In this profound yet highly accessible book, the author provides a vital introduction to the essential teachings of Islam. In each short chapter he focuses on a core teaching from the Quran, such as loving kindness, resilience, gratitude or forgiveness, and shares his unique insight into how these teachings can lead to spiritual evolution in anyone, regardless of their beliefs, religion or background. The author also considers the role of women in Islam, as well as the true nature and meaning of the words ‘jihad’ and ‘shariah’. Finally, touching upon current events, the author demonstrates how acts of violence committed in the name of Islam are inherently un‑Islamic, and boldly concludes not only that Islam is not the cause of terrorism – Islam contains the cure for it.

Since the onset of the Fourth Industrial Revolution numerous corporations have found that traditional ‘strategic planning’ is ineffectual in responding to, or capitalising on, unforeseen or unexpected change. In recognition of this and associated symptoms of inertia, bankruptcy or worse, this fieldbook was written for the purpose of guiding strategy practitioners through their intended or unintended journey into the future by providing meaningful strategy practices that enable responses to disruption and more importantly, better strategy practices overall. With a focus on strategy practice (‘doing’ strategy), this book represents a ‘how-to’ of Third Wave Strategy as defined in detail in the introductory book Corporate Strategy (Remastered) I. In addition to a description of methods that contribute to the philosophy of Third Wave Strategy, readers will witness the experiences of a virtual illustrative company that is travailing the same journey of organisational transformation and renewal that the methodologies described in this book also seek to address. The overall value of the book, therefore, is its ability to relate theory to practice in a factual and experiential format. A key part of the use of the virtual case study based on the illustrative Third Wave Industries (T-wI) Corporation is the blending of the system and process mechanisms that are a part of Third Wave Strategy and its framework, the strategy tools and techniques that are drawn from new and existing strategy practice and the soft issues that are represented by the human responses to change, as well as the management of change enacted in a corporate environment.
