"One of the most influential, admired, and innovative women of our time: fashion designer, philanthropist, wife, mother, and grandmother, Diane von Furstenberg offers a book about becoming the woman she wanted to be. Diane von Furstenberg started out with a suitcase full of jersey dresses and an idea of who she wanted to be--in her words, 'the kind of woman who is independent and who doesn't rely on a man to pay her bills.' She has since become that woman, establishing herself as a global brand and a major force in the fashion industry, all the while raising a family and maintaining 'my children are my greatest creation.' In The Woman I Wanted to Be, von Furstenberg reflects on her extraordinary life--from childhood in Brussels to her days as a young, jet-set princess, to creating the dress that came to symbolize independence and power for an entire generation of women. With remarkable honesty and wisdom, von Furstenberg mines the rich territory of what it means to be a woman. She opens up about her family and career, overcoming cancer, building a global brand, and devoting herself to empowering other women, writing, 'I want every woman to know that she can be the woman she wants to be"--

Named a Best Book of Summer by Glamour, BuzzFeed, Cosmopolitan, and many more! From the author of Playing with Matches, the rollicking tale of a young jewelry shop owner who accidentally leads her Instagram followers to believe that she’s engaged—and then decides to keep up the ruse. Eliza Roth and her sister Sophie co-own a jewelry shop in Brooklyn. One night, after learning of an ex’s engagement, Eliza accidentally posts a photo of herself wearing a diamond ring on that finger to her Instagram account beloved by 100,000 followers. Sales skyrocket, press rolls in, and Eliza learns that her personal life is good for business. So she has a choice: continue the ruse or clear up the misunderstanding. With mounting financial pressure, Eliza sets off to find a fake fiancé. Fellow entrepreneur Blake seems like the perfect match on paper. And in real life he shows promise, too. He would be perfect, if only Eliza didn’t feel also drawn to someone else. But Blake doesn’t know Eliza is “engaged”; Sophie asks Eliza for an impossible sum of money; and Eliza’s lies start to spiral out of control. She can either stay engaged online or fall in love in real life. Written with singular charm and style, Love at First Like is for anyone growing up and settling down in the digital age.

The Woman I Am is an incredibly inspiring autobiography by Helen Reddy, the woman who made "I Am Woman, Hear Me Roar" a household phrase. With her song "I Am Woman," Reddy provided the feminist anthem of the 1970s. She became the first Australian to win a Grammy, to have her own prime-time variety show on a U.S. television network, and to have three number-one singles in the same year. Then, at the height of her career, Reddy's world was shattered by the death of both her parents, and simultaneously, the news that she had a rare, incurable disease. In this riveting, frank, and ultimately brave memoir, Reddy reveals the emotional highs and lows that have shaped her as an artist and as a complex woman, with a rich inner life sustained by a strong spiritual faith.

This ain't no Dreamgirls," Rhodessa Jones warns participants in the Medea Project, the theater program for incarcerated women that she founded and directs. Her expectations are grounded in reality, tempered, for example, by the fact that women are the fastest growing population in U.S. prisons. Still, Jones believes that by engaging incarcerated women in the process of developing and staging dramatic works based on their own stories, she can push them toward tapping into their own creativity, confronting the problems that landed them in prison, and taking control of their lives. Rena Fraden chronicles the collaborative process of transforming incarcerated women's stories into productions that incorporate Greek mythology, hip-hop music, dance, and autobiography. She captures a diverse array of voices, including those of Jones and other artists, the sheriff and prison guards, and, most vividly, the women themselves. Through compelling narrative and thoughtful commentary, Fraden investigates the Medea Project's blend of art and activism and considers its limits and possibilities for enacting social change. Rhodessa Jones is co-artistic director of the San Francisco-based performance company Cultural Odyssey and founder of the Medea Project: Theater for Incarcerated Women. An award-winning performer, she has taught at the Yale School of Drama and the New College of California.

Fresh from her ground-breaking book "The Mom I Want to Be, " speaker and young-adult mentor Suzie Eller offers 18-to-29-year-old women an honest, faith-filled look at the journey to maturity. In "The Woman I Am Becoming, "she acknowledges the pressure to look and act a certain way, and helps readers explore key questions: What is a "real" woman? Where do "I" fit? What should I look like? Who should I be with? Where am I going? What about "my" faith? Each short chapter offers words from Suzie's own story and an application, followed by real-life advice from older women who are still "becoming." Concluding questions then help readers make what they're reading their own. As readers take their time, work through the emotions, and meet God in a new way, they'll begin to understand the woman they're becoming. A superb birthday or graduation gift.

The debut novel from acclaimed new age voice James Twyman is an unforgettable tale of love, friendship, and devotion told with passionate lyricism and spellbinding imagery. The Proposing Tree takes its impetus from a real tree that grows in Santa Monica, an actual Proposing Tree where young men pour their hearts into eloquent and timeless proposals of marriage to the women they love. Beginning in 1960s Los Angeles, and charting a course up to the present day, The Proposing Tree follows the arcs of one such star-crossed pair of lovers. As Fredrick kneels under the tree declaring his love to Carolyn, he hears the words all men dread: she wants to remain "just friends." Yet, despite his heartbreak, he does remain steadfast in his friendship, even as she closes the door forever on their romance by marrying another man. But forever can be a long time, and the power of true love can lead to extraordinary outcomes. What will become of the love of Fredrick and Carolyn?
